Meals & snacks

Growing bodies need good fuel. Children in full-day care are served a morning snack, a nutritious midday meal planned around Health Canada's food guide, and an afternoon snack as part of the day's rhythm — with water always available. Please make sure your child has eaten breakfast before arriving.

Food allergies and dietary needs are taken seriously: families are asked about allergies, intolerances, and dietary preferences before care begins, and meals are planned accordingly. Allergy information for enrolled children is kept visible to caregivers (never publicly).

To be confirmedMeal & snack policy — to be confirmed by the ownerIncluding what's served, how special diets are handled, and whether families provide any food.

Nap & rest time

Little ones recharge in the middle of the day with a calm, supervised rest period. Children who don't fall asleep can rest quietly with a book or soft toy — rest is restful, never forced.

Each child has their own clean bedding, and sleep spaces follow safe-sleep practices appropriate to the child's age.

To be confirmedRest-time routine — to be confirmed by the ownerIncluding timing, bedding arrangements, and how nap updates are shared with families.

Outdoor play & weather

We head outside every day — running, climbing, digging, and discovering nature are some of the best parts of childhood. Children go out in most weather, dressed appropriately, because there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing! We aim for at least two hours of outdoor time daily, weather permitting.

Outdoor time is adjusted for extreme heat, cold, or severe weather, and sun protection is used in warmer months.

Inclusion & additional support

Every child is welcome at Little Steps with Ammra. We work with families to understand each child's strengths, needs, and routines — including children with developmental, medical, or behavioural support needs — and adapt activities so everyone can take part fully.

To be confirmedInclusion & support details — to be discussed with the ownerEvery situation is unique. If your child needs additional support, let's talk about how we can help.
